Chukimarka

Chukimarka is an Inca-era archaeological site near Cusco, Peru, located close to the Templo de la Luna (Temple of the Moon) and Salapunco along the Qhapaq Nan, the great Inca road network. The site features rock-cut constructions characteristic of Inca sacred architecture in the Cusco region. The nearby Temple of the Moon, likely built originally by the Killke culture (900-1200 AD) and later adapted by the Inca, contains intricately carved niches and channels within a natural cave formation used for lunar worship ceremonies honouring Mama Killa, the moon goddess.
