Pichvnari

Pichvnari is an ancient Colchian settlement on the Black Sea coast of Georgia, near the confluence of the Choloki and Ochkhamuri rivers, about 10 km north of Kobuleti. Occupied from the late Bronze Age, the site became wealthier during Greek colonization, with Greek traders settling from the mid-5th century BC. Excavations since the 1950s revealed separate Greek and Colchian cemeteries. A joint British-Georgian expedition from 1998, involving the Batumi Archaeological Museum and Oxford's Ashmolean Museum, uncovered rich burial goods reflecting cultural exchange between Greek and Colchian communities.
