The Small Temple at Abu Simbel, also known as the Nefertari Temple or Temple of Hathor, was constructed c. 1264 BC by Pharaoh Ramesses II of the 19th Dynasty as a dedication to his queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor [1]. The temple facade features six colossal statues, each over 10 metres (32.8 ft) high—four of Ramesses II and two of Nefertari—representing one of the rarest examples in Egyptian art where the king's and queen's statues are equal in size [1][2]. This temple forms part of the renowned Abu Simbel complex in Nubia, southern Egypt, alongside the larger Great Temple dedicated to Ramesses II himself [1][2].
