Langdos

Langdos (meaning 'long mound') is the largest Bronze Age burial mound in Denmark, located in Thisted, Jutland. Originally 175 metres long, it now measures 140 metres and was built between 1800 and 1000 BC. A 1960 excavation of the intact eastern end uncovered a burial chamber with bronze fibulas dating to the older Bronze Age, as well as medieval clay vessels suggesting sacrificial practices continued into much later periods. Local legend speaks of the 'Langdos man,' a giant believed to inhabit the barrow.
