Dankirke

Dankirke was an Iron Age and early medieval settlement in southwest Jutland, Denmark, near present-day Ribe. Elise Thorvildsen's excavations (1965-1970) uncovered approximately 3,000 square metres divided into East and West areas, with house remains dating to the 4th-5th century CE. A large hall measuring 22 by 7 metres yielded over 1,000 glass beads and 1,300 fragments of Frankish glass vessels, indicating elite trade connections. Small silver Sceattas coins from England and Friesland confirm its role as a major trading center until about 700 CE, when it was eclipsed by Ribe.
