Durankulak is a prehistoric archaeological site on the Golemija (Big) Island in Durankulak lake, northeastern Bulgaria. Settlement began around 5000 BC (7000 BP) and continued through the Neolithic and Chalcolithic periods for thousands of years, making it one of the earliest known permanent settlements in the region.[1]
