Umm-Jidr Burial Mound Field

A burial mound field in Southern Governorate, Bahrain, dating to the Early Dilmun period (c. 2200-1750 BCE). Part of the Dilmun Burial Mounds, a serial UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 2019 comprising 21 archaeological sites with approximately 11,774 burial tumuli. The mounds bear witness to the flourishing Dilmun civilization when Bahrain served as a major international trade hub. Umm Jidr provides key evidence of Early Type Early Dilmun burial practices.
