An ancient temple in Bahrain built during the Dilmun era (3rd millennium BC), believed to have played a role in marking the summer solstice. Discovered during a 1977 survey and excavated through 1999, the settlement yielded copper fishhooks, bitumen nodules, pearl oyster shells, and nearly 100 seals of early Dilmun style. The site is on the UNESCO Tentative List as Saar Heritage Park. Dilmun served as a crucial trade intermediary between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley Civilization.
