Madghacen

Madghacen is a royal Numidian mausoleum near Batna, Algeria, dating to the 3rd-4th century BCE and considered the oldest royal funerary monument in the Maghreb. The circular stone structure measures 59 m in diameter and approximately 18.5 m in height, surrounded by sixty Doric-order columns. It was built for an unidentified Numidian king, blending indigenous Berber traditions with Hellenistic architectural influences. The site is on the UNESCO Tentative List as part of the Royal Mausoleums of Ancient Algeria.
