AlgeriaA Roman-Berber city founded under Emperor Trajan (98-117 AD) to settle veterans of the Legio III Augusta in what is now Ain Zana, Batna Province, Algeria. It grew from a vicus to a municipium, possibly as early as Trajan's reign. A three-arched triumphal arch erected for Emperor Macrinus in 217 AD still stands at the intersection with the cardo maximus. Other remains include a paved rectangular forum, an aqueduct, and a temple possibly dedicated to the goddess Diana.
