Site de Tiklat

The Site de Tiklat is located near El Kseur in Bejaia Province, Algeria, and corresponds to the ancient Roman colony of Tubusuctu. Founded in the 1st century AD by Augustus and settled with veterans from Legio VII Claudia, the colony was renowned for its olive oil production, with specialized containers traded throughout the Roman Empire. Archaeological remains include well-preserved thermal baths, large water cisterns, ancient ramparts, and an almost intact mosaic. Bishops are recorded at the site in 411 and 484 AD, attesting to its role as an early Christian centre.
