Castro de Borneiro is an Iron Age hillfort (castro) in Galicia, Spain, occupied from the 4th to the 1st century BC [1][2]. One of the most representative archaeological sites of castrexa culture, it sits just three kilometers from the sea in Cabana de Bergantiños [2]. The settlement exemplifies the Castro culture of Northern Spain, which dates as far back as the 9th century BC [1]. Recent research has uncovered evidence of bonecoal metalworking at the site, revealing specialized iron production techniques during the Iron Age [3]. This textbook example of a walled settlement has undergone several excavations and modifications to accommodate visitors [1].
