Göbekli Tepe is a Pre-Pottery Neolithic site in southeastern Turkey featuring massive circular enclosures with T-shaped stone pillars, among the world's oldest known megaliths[1]. Inhabited from approximately 9500 BCE to at least 8000 BCE, the site predates Stonehenge by roughly 6,000 years[1]. The pillars, reaching up to 5.5 meters in height, are richly decorated with reliefs of lions, bulls, boars, and other wild animals, as well as anthropomorphic figures and abstract symbols[1]. The site comprises at least 20 circular structures, with the largest measuring 30 meters across, surrounded by smaller rectangular buildings, quarries, and stone-cut cisterns[1].
