The Pitalkhora Caves, located in the Satmala range of the Western Ghats in Maharashtra, India, comprise 14 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments dating to the 3rd century BCE [1]. These caves represent one of the earliest examples of rock-cut architecture in India [1]. The site lies approximately 40 kilometers from Ellora and is accessed by descending a steep flight of concrete stairs past a waterfall [1].
