Fethiye Antik Tiyatrosu

Fethiye Antik Tiyatrosu (Fethiye Ancient Theatre) is a theatre carved into a natural hillside in Fethiye, Turkey [1]. The cavea (seating area) retains approximately 20 rows of seats divided by a diazoma (horizontal corridor), with a diameter of about 95 meters [1]. The orchestra is semi-circular, typical of Greek and Roman theatre design, while the scena (stage building) shows Roman architectural influences [1]. Archaeological evidence suggests construction began in the late Hellenistic period, with renovations during the Roman era continuing into the 7th century AD [1]. The theatre was part of the ancient city of Telmessos and could accommodate several thousand spectators. Excavations in the 1990s revealed well-preserved architectural elements including columns, capitals, and marble seating blocks.
