Otrar (also called Farab) was a historic Silk Road city in southern Kazakhstan. Located at a crucial crossroads connecting China, Europe, the Middle East, Siberia and the Urals, it served as a vital trading hub and administrative center of a major oasis [1]. The settlement stood at the boundary between settled agricultural civilizations and nomadic pastoralist territories, functioning as a cultural and commercial nexus in Central Asia [1].
