Talapty Settlement

The Talapty Settlement lies on the right bank of the Koksu River in the Zhetysu (Dzungar) Alatau range of Kazakhstan, spanning between canyons 8 and 10. Discovered in 1982 and excavated under Professor A.N. Maryashev, the site dates to the boundary of the 2nd-1st millennia BC. Excavations revealed earth-houses, including one large dwelling of 16x18 metres with a central rectangular oven. Artifacts include stone pestles, grindstones, bone arrowheads, ceramics, and copper ore, reflecting a complex cattle-breeding and agricultural economy linked to the Andronovo cultural tradition.
