Gevninge

Gevninge is a village on Zealand, Denmark, 3 km north of Lejre, believed seat of the Scylding kings. Archaeological excavations revealed Iron Age and Viking Age occupation spanning 500-1000 AD. In 2000, a gilded copper-alloy eyepiece from a 6th-7th century helmet was found at a Viking farmstead, indicating high-status warrior presence and the site's role as a strategic port for Lejre's political elite. The artifact is housed at Lejre Museum.
