Din Lligwy is a well-preserved Romano-British settlement near Moelfre on Anglesey, north Wales. The pentagonal stone enclosure (56 m x 53 m) contains two circular huts and four rectangular buildings surrounded by walls 4-5 feet thick. Excavations in 1905-07 produced hundreds of 3rd-4th century AD pottery sherds, Roman glass, coins, and a silver ingot suggesting a chieftain's residence. Six hearths in the rectangular buildings indicate iron smelting workshops, likely supplying the Roman military. Animal bones fashioned into tools and a musical instrument were also recovered. The settlement was abandoned around AD 400 when Roman forces withdrew from Britain.
