Zerzevan Castle is a fortified Roman settlement in southeastern Turkey, established as a strategic military base [1]. The site features extensive underground chambers carved into rock, including a temple dedicated to Mithraism, a secretive Roman mystery cult [1][2]. The fortress was later inhabited by civilians from the 1890s until the 1960s [1]. Today, the archaeological site is partially open to visitors, offering insights into Roman military architecture and ancient religious practices [1].
