Kobba Bent el Rey

Kobba Bent el Rey is a vaulted underground construction from the early 4th century AD, located on the hill of Bordj Djedid within Carthage, Tunisia. Also known as the Baths of Dido, the structure was deliberately built below ground level to serve as a hidden sanctuary for a religious community. Its rooms feature a rich variety of vault types including tunnel vaults and domes in combinations of smaller and larger cupolas, constructed using lost formwork from earthenware pipes coated in Roman concrete. It is considered the best-preserved residential monument at the site of Carthage.
