Kobba Bent el Rey

Kobba Bent el Rey is a vaulted underground construction, located on the hill of Bordj Djedid within Carthage, Tunisia [1]. Also known as the Baths of Dido, the structure was deliberately built below ground level [2] [3]. Its rooms feature a rich variety of vault types including tunnel vaults and domes in combinations of smaller and larger cupolas, constructed using lost formwork from earthenware pipes coated in Roman concrete [3] [4]. It is considered the best-preserved residential monument at the site of Carthage [1].
