Amphithéâtre Romain Cillium

A Roman theatre at the ancient city of Cillium, modern Kasserine in central Tunisia, built at the end of the 1st century AD to commemorate the founding of the municipium. The cavea, 53 metres in diameter, was partially carved into the hillside overlooking the wadi. Cillium controlled a strategic pass between the Semmama and Chambi mountain ranges, connecting the arid south with the grain-producing north. The site also preserves the Flavii mausoleum, bearing the longest verse epitaph in the Roman world at 110 lines.
