Modestus Zafer Takı

The Arch of Mettius Modestus is a monumental triple-vaulted triumphal arch at the ancient Lycian city of Patara, Turkey, built around 100 AD in honor of C. Trebonius Proculus Mettius Modestus, the first Roman governor of Lycia and Pamphylia. The structure stands 10 metres high and 19 metres long, originally adorned with sculptural portraits of Modestus and his family on twelve consoles. It served as both a territorial marker and the terminal point of the city's aqueduct running from Islamlar, 20 km northeast. Modestus later became consul in 103 AD.
