TürkiyeA 2,200-year-old Roman-era dam near the village of Orukaya in the Alaca district of Corum Province, Turkey. Built across a narrow ravine after the fall of the Pontic Kingdom in 65 BC, it is one of only four surviving dams from this period in Turkey. Functioning as a fountain building with arched drainage, it also yielded settlement remains on an adjacent hillside. Hitit University has been conducting excavation and restoration since 2017, with soil analysis expected to reveal two millennia of regional climate change.
