Limyra Antik Kenti

Limyra is an ancient Lycian city located near Finike in Antalya Province, Turkey, settled from at least the 5th century BC. It became the capital of Lycia under King Perikle in the 4th century BC and contains over 400 rock-cut tombs with Lycian-language inscriptions. Notable monuments include a Roman theatre seating 8,000, the Heroon of Perikle, and a cenotaph for Gaius Caesar, grandson of Emperor Augustus, who died at Limyra in 4 AD. The city was abandoned after Arab raids in the 8th-9th centuries.
