Kültepe

Kültepe (ancient Kaneš/Neša) is a major Bronze Age site in Kayseri Province, Turkey, with origins in the early 3rd millennium BC. It features a large mound and lower city, where an Assyrian kārum (trading colony) operated. Excavations uncovered 23,500 cuneiform tablets from private houses—the largest collection of private texts in the ancient Near East. In 2014, it was inscribed on Turkey's Tentative list of World Heritage Sites. [1]
