Demre

Demre is the Lycian town of Myra, the home of Saint Nicholas of Myra [1]. Demre is on the coast of the Teke peninsula, west of the bay of Antalya, with the Taurus Mountains behind [1]. The settlement now known as Demre was founded as Myra, one of the most important city-states of ancient Lycia [1]. Andriake, located 5 km southwest of Demre at the mouth of the Demre River, was the harbour city of ancient Myra [1].
