Andriake Ancient City

The ancient port city of Myra in Lycia, located in modern Demre, Antalya Province, Turkey [1]. Its most prominent structure is a massive Roman granary (horrea) built under Emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD) [2] [3]. Along with Patara, Andriake was a key port for the Egyptian grain fleet supplying Rome and later Constantinople [4]. Evidence of Murex shell heaps indicates purple dye production [3] [5]. The granary now houses the Museum of Lycian Civilizations [3] [6].
