Al Farid - The Lonely Castle

Qasr al-Farid ("The Lonely Castle") is an unfinished Nabataean tomb at Hegra (Mada'in Salih), a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia [1] [2]. It is the largest tomb at the site and uniquely features four large pilasters on its facade [3] [4]. Carved from a single rock outcrop starting from the top down around the 1st century AD, its lower third remains rough and unfinished [1] [2] [3]. The site contains 111 monumental tombs in total, with 94 decorated facades [5] [6].
