Ventarron

Ventarron is a 4,500-year-old temple complex near Chiclayo in the Lambayeque Valley on Peru's northern coast, excavated in 2007. The site features the oldest known mural in the Americas, radiocarbon dated to 2000 BC, depicting a deer caught in a net painted in red, yellow, and blue pigments. The Red-White Temple, the most sacred structure, has a facade decorated with broad oblique bands of white over red. In November 2017, a fire caused by sugar cane field burning destroyed approximately 95% of the temple complex, devastating this irreplaceable archaeological treasure.
