Innisidgen

Innisidgen is the site of two Bronze Age entrance graves (c. 2500-800 BC) on Innisidgen Hill, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly, overlooking Crow Sound toward the Eastern Isles. Upper Innisidgen, also known as "The Giant's Grave," is one of the best-preserved entrance graves on Scilly, with a mound measuring 30 by 26 feet and a chamber roofed by five massive capstones. Lower Innisidgen, located 300 feet northwest, is more damaged and retains only two capstones. Entrance graves are a burial type unique to Scilly and West Cornwall. Both chambers were found empty when first entered in modern times, though such graves typically contained cremated bone and funerary urns. A prehistoric field system survives on the adjoining slope.
