Sura - Ancient Oracle

Sura was an ancient Lycian settlement and oracle site, functioning as a dependency of the major city of Myra during the 4th century AD [1]. The site is renowned for its Temple of Apollo, which housed a unique fish oracle where priests interpreted the movements of sacred fish to deliver prophecies [1]. Archaeological remains include a ruined acropolis, large stone sarcophagi, the Temple of Apollo, and numerous rock-carved headstones scattered across the landscape [1].
