Antioch of Pisidia

Founded by Seleucid king Antiochus I Soter in the 3rd century BC near modern Yalvac, this Hellenistic city became a prestigious Roman colony titled Colonia Caesarea Augusta after 25 BC. The Temple of Augustus crowned the hilltop, where fragments of the Res Gestae Divi Augusti were discovered. A theatre, 10 km aqueduct, and city gate survive among the ruins. The Apostle Paul delivered his first recorded sermon here around 46 AD, and the site marks the endpoint of the modern St. Paul Trail.
