Aizanoi

Aizanoi was an Ancient Greek city in western Anatolia, located at the modern village of Çavdarhisar near Kütahya, Turkey, on both sides of the Penkalas River at approximately 1,000 m above sea level[1]. The city served as an important political and economic centre during Roman times[1]. Surviving remains include a well-preserved Temple of Zeus, an unusual combined theatre-stadium complex, and a round building identified as a macellum inscribed with a copy of the Price Edict of Diocletian[1]. The city fell into decline during Late Antiquity and was submitted for UNESCO World Heritage List consideration in 2012[1].
