3rd-13th c. CE: Si Thep Historical Park contains ruins of one of the largest city-states of first-millennium mainland Southeast Asia, spanning late prehistory through the Dvaravati period to the golden age of the Khmer Empire [1]. The site was abandoned around the time Sukhothai and later Ayutthaya emerged as new Thai-speaking centres of power [1].
