Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology

An archaeological museum in Bali District, New Taipei, Taiwan, built in 1998 on the excavation site of the Shihsanhang culture dating back 500 to 1,800 years. The site was one of only two communities in Taiwan to master iron smelting, and excavations since 1957 uncovered iron slag, pottery, and burial areas with over 300 skeletons. The ancient inhabitants are believed to be ancestors of the Ketagalan aboriginal people. Discoveries of silver, copperware, gold jewelry, and coins indicate extensive trade networks. The award-winning museum building features a "Bridge of Time" exhibit.
