Rhodiapolis was a compact ancient city in Lycia, situated on a hill northwest of modern Kumluca in Antalya Province, Turkey. Founded by Rhodian colonists, its Lycian name was Wedrei. Though small with only one vote in the Lycian League, the city became famous for Opramoas (138-161 AD), the wealthiest philanthropist in Lycia, who donated approximately 500,000 denarii to 28 cities after a devastating earthquake. His monument contains the longest inscription in Lycia. Remains include rock-cut tombs from the Classical period, a theatre, thermal baths, agora, stoa, and temples, with most visible structures dating from Roman and Byzantine periods. Systematic excavation began in 2006 under Akdeniz University.
