Built in the 2nd century AD, the Temple of Zeus Theos was one of Dura Europos' most important sanctuaries, situated in the city center [1]. The temple complex covered approximately 37 square meters, occupying half an insula [1]. It was excavated by an American-French team between 1933 and 1939 [1].
