KirkBiza

Qirqbize was an early Byzantine settlement in northwest Syria, one of the Dead Cities of the basalt region. The ruins are significant for early Christianity, containing the earliest preserved house church after Dura-Europos, dating to the beginning of the 4th century [1]. The site was inhabited from the Roman period until at least the 7th century [1]. Howard Crosby Butler investigated the site in 1899, and George Tchalenko conducted excavations from 1939 to 1971 [1].
