Tsagaan Salaa Rock Paintings

The Tsagaan Salaa rock paintings comprise one of the largest rock art complexes in North and Central Asia, located in western Mongolia's Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Spanning roughly 15 square kilometres along the White River Valley, the site contains over 10,000 figures dating from the Neolithic (c. 11,000 BC) through the Bronze Age to the Turkic period. Imagery documents the transition from big-game hunting to pastoral herding and horse-dependent nomadism. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011 as part of the Petroglyphic Complexes of the Mongolian Altai.
