Chitinamit

Chitinamit is a Maya archaeological site in highland Guatemala, identified as Jakawitz—the first capital of the K'iche' Maya kingdom[1]. Located in the El Quiché department, municipality of Uspantán, the settlement dates from the Early Classic through the Late Postclassic periods[1]. Covering roughly 2 hectares (220,000 sq ft), it represents the largest archaeological site in the Uspantán region[1].
