Ziari

Ziari is a Paleolithic archaeological site in Gurjaani Municipality, Kakheti region, Georgia, located at an elevation of approximately 842 meters. Archaeological research conducted since the 1960s has unearthed numerous stone artifacts testifying to the presence of Paleolithic workshops. The site preserves multiple cultural layers, with early Lower Paleolithic layers rich in limestone artifacts, while flint raw materials dominate the Middle Paleolithic layers. The findings at Ziari are significant for understanding early human activity and stone tool production in the Caucasus region.
