Wolf Cave

Wolf Cave (Finnish: Susiluola) is a natural cave formation in the Pyhävuori mountain at the border of Kristinestad and Karijoki municipalities in Finland [1]. The cave formed when the upper part of a rock crack became packed with soil [1]. In 1996, archaeological excavations uncovered objects that date to approximately 120,000-130,000 years ago, during the Paleolithic period [1]. If authentically dated, these artifacts would represent the only known Neanderthal presence in the Nordic countries [1].
