Pampas Gramalote

Pampas Gramalote was a Prehispanic fishing village near Huanchaco, Peru, existing from 2000 to 1200 BC [1]. It is the oldest archaeological settlement known in the area, representing a direct link between modern coastal communities and their ancestors in traditional fishing villages [1]. The village was discovered in 1973 by archaeologist Charles Hastings [1]. A temple at the site was used by fishermen to perform rituals before heading out to sea to hunt sharks over 3,000 years ago [1].
