Ancient City of Sillyon

An ancient Pamphylian city built on a flat-topped hill rising 210 meters above the coastal plain near Antalya, Turkey. Reportedly founded by settlers from Argos, it was a Delian League member from 469 BC. The city famously resisted Alexander the Great's siege around 333 BC thanks to its imposing natural fortifications. Remains span Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods, including a stadium, gymnasium, and theatre, though a 1969 landslide caused severe damage to many structures.
