Sitio Conte

Sitio Conte is a necropolis and archaeological site in Cocle province, Panama, near Parita Bay [1]. Dated to AD 450-900 based on goldwork and polychrome ceramics, it represents a paradigmatic example of a ranked chiefdom society [1]. Since the final excavations in 1940, the site has remained largely untouched, preserving critical mortuary evidence for interpreting regional social dynamics between AD 500-1500 [1].
