Sidi Said

Sidi Said is a hamlet in Morocco that served as a Roman military fort (castrum) [1] [2]. It was one of five forts that protected the city of Volubilis from incursions over the Limes Africanus frontier [1] [2]. The fort housed the Cohors IV Gallorum equitata, an auxiliary unit recruited from Gaul [1] [3] [4]. Roman control of the region ended following the Crisis of the Third Century, when internal instability weakened imperial authority in North Africa [1] [2].
