Sidi Said

Sidi Said is a hamlet in Morocco that served as a Roman military fort (castrum)[1]. It was one of five forts that protected the city of Volubilis from incursions over the Limes Africanus frontier[1]. The fort housed the Cohors IV Gallorum equitata, an auxiliary cavalry unit recruited from Gaul[1]. Roman control of the region ended following the Crisis of the Third Century, when internal instability weakened imperial authority in North Africa[1]. The settlement is located at 28°27'36"N, 10°34'12"W[2].
