Iulia Valentia Banasa was a Roman-Berber city in northern Morocco (modern Sidi Ali Boujnoun), founded by Emperor Augustus between 33 and 25 BC as one of three colonias in Mauretania Tingitana for veterans of the Battle of Actium[1]. The settlement was built atop a pre-existing Mauretanian village, though archaeological evidence shows the site was already occupied by local Amazigh peoples from the 4th century BC, or possibly earlier[1][2].
