Iulia Constantia Zilil

Iulia Constantia Zilil (later Arzeila) was a Roman-Berber colonia in present-day Dchar Jdid, Morocco, founded by Emperor Augustus between 33 and 25 BC for veterans of the battle of Actium. Located 40 km southwest of Tangier and 13 km northeast of Asilah, it was one of three Roman colonias in Mauretania Tingitana, serving as an important settlement in northern Morocco until at least the 8th century AD.[1][2]
