Ahu Nau Nau is a megalithic platform on Easter Island [1] [2] [3]. It occupies a site traditionally regarded as the birthplace of the island's history and culture [2] [4] [5]. According to oral tradition, this was the residence of high-ranking chiefs of the powerful Miru clan, and the landing place of the island's first king, Ariki Hotu Matu'a, who established the first settlement there with his people [2] [4] [5] [6].
